This is another type of Pinakol modern version. Only Vinusak figures was used here to formed the beautiful bead necklace.

This beadcraft and its designs was Rungus special trademark and differentiate Rungus tribe from the other ethnic groups of Sabah. This is the standard design for Pinakol called Pakazan, only the colour combinations sometimes changed. Each of the figures that used in the design of a Pinakol have its own meaning. Lets me introduce the four basic figures that we usually use to design the pinakol from the left to the right.

At the left is a Rungus man called Tinogulun. The second is a spear for catching fish called an Inompuling. The third figure is a flower called a Vinusak. And the fourth figure is Tinugarang, a dangerous river animal.

I think there a story behind this traditional beadwork but I never dig it from my mom . And never think about it before. Well I think now I will have an assignment to do if I go back to my hometown.

Now Pinakol have various morden design. I will show it here once I have the picture. Pinakol usually used as a welcome gift for VVIP person. I once saw it in TV used to welcome Pak Lah during his visit in Sabah but unfotunately I didn’t capture the photo so I can’t show it here.
